Amazing Life Size Nativity Scene

Christmas services and celebrations in churches across the country were very different in 2020 yet this difference presented us with a unique opportunity for an exciting and memorable project.

Over 1500 visitors of all ages came to St. Margaret’s church to experience the Life Size Nativity Scene created from figures originally painted by renowned local artist Jonathan G Skelton.

Rev. David Wallis, Vicar of the Beacon Parish, explained: “At a time when there were so many things that we would love to have done that we couldn’t, we hope that this gave people a much-needed uplifting experience. Many people commented on how much they appreciated both the artistry and being able to step into the stable and imagine that they were there when Jesus was born.”

Many visitors also took the opportunity to tie a prayer card to the Christmas tree and some people also visited St. Martin’s church, Westmeston and Streat Church which both had nativity scenes on display.

We hope and pray that this connection with the church will have inspired and encouraged people for the challenging months ahead.
